AKITA® is a state of the art controlled breathing device using smart card technology allowing the device to be adapted to a patient’s lung function. The AKITA technology ensures extremely high deposition of inhaled therapeutics and allows specific targeting of different lung regions.
With the AKITA device, patients no longer have to concentrate on the right breathing technique, because the device induces the optimum breathing pattern for them. AKITA takes over control of the inhalation and gives the patient status information on a display. The AKITA standardizes inhalation speed and volume, the period between breaths, and the number of breaths.
The AKITA device is controlled by a smart card that records the optimum breathing pattern (number of breaths, flow rate and volume) for each patient. This ensures that device can be tailored directly to patient parameters and that detailed data about inhalation patterns and compliance can be recorded on the card and retrieved using a card reader and proprietary software.
