The SMART CARD concept

Delivering an active agent in the right quantity to the site of action in the lungs depends on the treatment required. Activaero's SMART CARD concept provides the optimal solution for the therapeutic inhalation of aerosolized medications.
The SMART CARD is an electronic chip card that is designed to transfer all relevant therapy parameters, such as the drug and dose-specific inhalation information to the AKITA® control unit. Thus, inhalation with AKITA® can be specifically adapted based on the patient and his individual condition.
SMART CARD - Drug and dose-specific
There is one SMART CARD for each drug and dosage and this determines the exact drug dose and deposition area in the lung. Depending on individual lung function and inspiration capacity, a patient can select his personal inhalation time or volume - a measurement of lung function can provide a recommendation for this setting.
Based on this patient-specific information, the AKITA® JET calculates the number of breaths necessary to inhale the required lung dose. The treatment automatically finishes when the complete lung dose has been inhaled - in this way, under and over dosing can be prevented.

SMART CARD - Therapeutic success is measurable
The SMART CARD saves all therapeutic data for PC-based compliance analysis. 100% compliance analysis is not only important in clinical studies, but also in therapeutic practices, as doctors and patients can analyze and perfect treatment programs together.
Compliance analysis via SMART CARD provides information on:
- Number of breaths per treatment
- Duration of treatment
- Timing of inhalation, e.g. mornings vs. evenings
- Inhaled drug dose, e.g. overall dose or seven-day dose
