The AKITA2 APIXNEBTM inhalation system

AKITA2 APIXNEBTM combines the benefits of Activaero's FAVORITE Inhalation concept with PARI's eFlow® vibrating membrane nebulizer technology. The AKITA2 APIXNEBTM inhalation system has eliminated almost all of the problems commonly associated with aerosol inhalation - high nebulizer residual, sub-optimal breathing and no loss of aerosol during the exhalation phase.

AKITA2 APIXNEBTM provides everything that conventional systems can't deliver, including an exceptionally high drug deposition of up to 80% in the lungs. The system ensures controlled breathing and optimized inhalation maneuvers, which guarantee exact reproducibility of the patients' daily required dose of drugs.

With regard to clinical studies, the advantages of AKITA2 APIXNEBTM are clear:

AKITA2 APIXNEBTM - Efficient utilization of the drug

With AKITA2 APIXNEBTM, approximately 80% of the medication measured in the nebulizer is deposited into the lungs, whereas conventional inhalation systems only reach a deposition rate of 5-15%.

In clinical studies, particularly those in which new and expensive drugs are tested, AKITA2 APIXNEBTM has the potential to reduce drug consumption and costs.

New clinical data proves the efficiency of AKITA2 APIXNEBTM - patients with cystic fibrosis and alpha-1-antitrypsin-deficiency can achieve a lung deposition of approximately 70%, the same rate as healthy volunteers.

AKITA2 APIXNEBTM - Low dose variability means fewer patients needed for clinical trails

AKITA2 APIXNEBTM combined with FAVORITE technology  ensures efficient drug dosing, which means that patients can achieve consistent lung doses throughout the entire trial period. Subsequently, low intersubject dose variability reduces the number of patients required to show clinical efficacy, a factor which also significantly reduces the costs of clinical studies.
